Unsafe Amusement Rides

Amusement Ride Personal Injury Lawyer | Amusement Ride Accident

Unsafe amusement ride, amusement ride accidents, go kart accident.

Amusement ride injuries may be caused by negligent design, a lack of supervision, failure to follow rules, or lackluster maintenance. Carnivals sometimes hire unqualified and untrained workers to operate potentially dangerous rides, which we trustingly allow our children to ride.

Sometimes carnival rides or go karts are manufactured and sold in a condition that deviates from ASTM safety standards. For example, a go kart that has an exposed rear axle presents a risk that hair or clothing will become entrapped in the axle. This has caused such severe injuries as quadriplegia, decapitation, and scalping.

In 2004, mobile amusement rides accounted for an estimated 2,500 non-occupational injuries treated in hospital emergency rooms. In 2004, inflatable rides, such as inflatable slides and bounces, accounted for an estimated 4,900 non-occupational injuries treated in hospital emergency rooms.

From 1987 to 2002, for mobile and fixed-site amusement rides combined, there were an estimated 4.4 amusement-ride fatalities per year. When this report was prepared, CPSC had reports of 5 amusement ride fatalities in 2004 and 5 in 2003. CPSC may become aware of additional fatalities for the years 2003 and 2004. CPSC had reports of 4 fatalities from inflatable amusement rides from 2002 to 2005.
